There are two separate application methods. In the first, the patient lies prone, and an epidural space is entered with a needle from the back of the neck. In the second, the patient lies supine, and the epidural space is entered with a needle from the side of the neck.

The difference between the two procedures is related to the preference of the performing physician. Both methods are effective.

This procedure is performed under operating room conditions, with all vital functions monitored, under sedation, and with imaging assistance using a scope device.
