The procedure is performed in a sitting or supine position. An injection of cortisone is administered at three levels by entering the joint formed by the collarbone and the shoulder with a needle.

This procedure is carried out in operating room conditions, monitoring all vital functions, under sedation, and with the assistance of fluoroscopy or ultrasound imaging.
