Implantable Pain Management Devices

Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS)

Devices implanted in the body are used for the treatment of certain specific and/or challenging types of pain.

One such device is an "pain pacemaker," functioning similar to a cardiac pacemaker. These devices, resembling a pacemaker, are placed over the spinal cord using an electrode. They work by electrically stimulating pain-conveying nerves, preventing the sensation of severe pain. These devices are particularly used for patients with nerve injuries, those who have undergone multiple back surgeries, individuals with wounds on their hands, legs, or feet due to vascular occlusion, and those at risk of amputation.

Intrathecal Drug Pumps (Baclofen Pump, Morphine Pump)

These pumps are also used in cases of severe pain or spasticity. They work by regularly delivering very small amounts of medication into the cerebrospinal fluid, alleviating pain or spasticity, depending on the medication used.
