Accurate diagnosis is the most crucial step in the success of treatment…
Sacroiliitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the sacroiliac joint (the joint between the sacrum and the pelvic bone), leading to pain, primarily in the hip region. It is often associated with a group of inflammatory joint diseases referred to as spondyloarthritis. These diseases include conditions like ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and reactive arthritis. Additionally, advanced age-related joint degeneration, infection, and trauma are common causes.
Diagnosis is typically based on imaging tests, physical examination findings, and the patient's symptoms. Treatment may involve nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), hot or cold compresses, and, if necessary, corticosteroid injections. Radiofrequency therapy (RFT) can also be employed to provide longer-term pain relief. The treatment plan may vary depending on the underlying condition.
